The Pools of Flame and Tears
Pools of Flame
The Pools of Flame are the region of caves where magma seeps upward through the fissures, forming pools of heat and light. The further fireway you go, the larger the pools that form. People steam the Tears in the heat of Flame, their only source of fresh water. Only the strength of the metal incendium proves strong enough to contain the lava, one of the few sources of light. Near the pools grows the frond plant, which thrives on the heat, but appears to subsist also on trace amounts of salt-water in the earth. Frond is one of two forms of food in the Pools. There are many creation myths that conjecture about the origin of the Flame, because if one thing is certain, without the Pools of Flame, there would be no life.
